OUR

NEIGHBOURHOOD

WOODLANDS

Woodlands, officially Woodlands Town, is a suburban town in the northernmost part of Singapore, part of the North West Community Development Council (Northwest CDC) district. It connects Singapore with Malaysia's southernmost city, Johor Bahru, via the Johor-Singapore Causeway.

The area consisting of modern-day Woodlands Town first witnessed the opening of the Johor-Singapore Causeway in 1923. Early Woodlands consisted of villages and squatters where residents made their living mostly as small-time shopkeepers and vegetable farmers in the Marsiling area, while rubber plantations and poultry farms dot the landscape in Jalan Ulu Sembawang where modern-day Admiralty is located. The first HDB flats were built from 1972 in the northern part of Marsiling, and the Woodlands Bus interchange located at Woodlands Centre Road was built in 1980.

Woodlands Civic Centre is a convenient one-stop location for residents and members of the public, to enjoy the use of various government-linked services offered by Woodlands Branch Office, CPF Board, North West CDC, National Library Board, etc. Recent upgrading projects have injected even more variety and vibrancy with the entry of new F&B outlets, clinics, enrichment centres and retail outlets, to better serve our customers.

Woodlands Civic Centre is a shopping centre and civic hub situated in the town centre of Woodlands. This rather big complex houses numerous government and municipal offices such HDB branch office, Sembawang Town Council, North West CDC, CPF Board office, and NLB's Woodlands Regional Library. The retail and consumer offerings here include beauty/haircare salons, eateries & coffee joints, banks, and children's educational/learning centres.
